This is more for the person making either a shooter or a collector. On a 10 scale, I would give this a 8.5 for finish. The 32.5 inch barrel has the large VP Eagle proofs and"P" inspector marks underneath which is correct for this model. It looks like somebody changed the insert. On a scale of 10 I would give the bore about a 9. The only thing monkeyed with on this bbl is the front sight. This is probably one of the nicest barrels I have had to sell. The bore is very good + to excellent with just a couple tiny spots, the lands& grooves are sharp and deep, it should make a great shooter. The barrel has a nice even blue/brown patina, The above wood portion has brown mixed in from use and storage. more that still has the original untouched slotless screws. You are bidding on a excellent original condition barrel for a later 1879 or a 1884 Model Trapdoor Springfield which INCLUDES a excellent M79 rear sight.
